Qualifying
The Qualifying page lets you set a qualifying lap to determine your grid position. Access it from Race Week > Qualifying.
Qualifying Format
Each car gets one qualifying attempt per round. The lap time determines where the car starts on the grid:
- Faster times = higher grid position
- Only the driver's fastest single lap counts
- If no qualifying time is set, the car starts at the back
Setup Lock-In
Your qualifying setup is locked in after submission - you cannot change it for the race unless you revisit Race Setup. Choose your values carefully based on practice data.
Grid Formation
- Qualifying results determine the front of the grid (fastest first)
- Cars without qualifying times slot in behind in random order
- Drivers without a driver_id on their team_car row are excluded
Championship Context
If your driver is registered in a championship, the qualifying session runs on that championship's current round's circuit.
Strategy
- Use your best practice setup as a starting point
- Qualifying rewards outright pace - optimise for the fastest single lap
- Consider that your race setup may differ from qualifying (more conservative for race pace)
