Engineering
The
Engineering page is where you develop car parts using
Engineering Points (EP). Access it from the Engineering link in the navigation bar.
Engineering Points
Each team receives
30 EP per week during the race season. These points are your budget for developing car parts.
EP is allocated once per week - once submitted, you cannot change it until the next week.
Part Types
You can allocate EP to six part types:
- Suspension - affects slow-corner handling
- Chassis - affects suspension setup error
- Transmission - affects race starts (launch & Turn 1 composure)
- Brakes - affects brake setup error
- Engine - affects gearing setup error
- Aero - affects aero setup error
Development Process
- 1. Allocate EP - distribute your 30 EP across the six part types
- 2. Submit - click to commit your allocation for the week
- 3. Results - the system rolls for success on each part
Success Chance
Each part's success chance depends on the EP allocated and your
Head of Engineering's Engineering skill:
- More EP = higher chance of success
- Higher Engineering skill = better success rate
- Success creates a part in your inventory at the next level: any failures were parts that were created but have not been deemed useful in some way - defective, did not have the desired impact etc.
Level Progression
- Upgrading from Level 1→2 is easier than later levels
- Higher levels require more EP for a reasonable success chance
- Part levels range from 1 to 10
- Once a level is unlocked, your engineers will machine enough parts until you are "full" at that level. For example, if you unlock level 3 suspension one week, and make 2 of these, the next week your engineers will focus on making enough L3 parts to fill out all four of your cars, before trying to get to level 4.
Inventory
Successfully developed parts are stored in your inventory. They can be installed on cars via the
Car Setup page. Parts at Level 1 are always available for free.
Weekly Lock
Once you submit your engineering allocation for the week, it's locked until the next game week. Make sure you're happy with your distribution!
